Father’s Day Recap

21 Jun

edited to add: if you wouldn’t mind leaving me a comment to let me know how my pictures look on your computer, i would really appreciate it! they look fine on my macbook, but when i view it on a windows computer they are huge and distorted. any tips?

happy tuesday! hope your week is off to a great start!

father’s day was fabulous, from beginning to end! we made the quick 1 hour drive to visit our families.  john and i are both lucky that our families live minutes from each other.  john met up with his dad for golf earrrrrly on sunday morning. 6:40 a.m. early. he left our apartment a little after 5 a.m.,  meanwhile i was practically in a coma. they met our friend chad and his dad, and golfed 18. afterwards they went out to grab lunch and a few brewskis. john was going to take some pictures, but said the lighting was terrible. only kidding.

i got into town around 1pm, and met my family at…starbucks! i grabbed an iced soy chai for myself, and a grande black iced coffee for john, who was dragging a bit.

i waited for john and his dad back at his dad’s place, then we drove and met my family (minus my sister shelby, aka norm, who was home sick :() at j.alexander’s for lunch, home of the best veggie burger around! my family has been eating here for years, and it is a frequent post church lunch spot for them. we got to sit outside on the patio and enjoy some deliciousness.

my family had been there for a little while, and had eaten their own platter of guacamole. john and i destroyed this bad boy in about 10 minutes. so fresh!

for lunch, i got the veggie burger (of course!) i order mine with no cheese, mayo or bun. usually there is bbq sauce on there, but the server must have thought i didn’t want that either. understandable. this burger is huge, and i could only finish half after all that guac! the shoestring french fries are my absolute favorite.

my dad was looking studly in his purple underarmour shirt (love you dad!), posing for a sunglasses ad with deb. 😉

abbey weaseled herself into the second shot…

and then it turned into a full blown patio photo shoot. i’ll let the pictures do the talking.

i didn’t snap a picture of my other sister, lyndsey, who was sitting right next to me! shelby was home in bed, and i didn’t want to paparazzi her while she was sleeping. 😉

after lunch, we headed to yoz yogurt, a local soft-serve shop that serves non dairy fro-yo! the flavor rotates weekly, and today it was white chocolate macadamia, john’s favorite!

oreos for john, raspberries for me.  and yes, oreos are vegan, although extremely unhealthy.

a little while after lunch, lyndsey, mom and i decided to hit up the mall. my mom and i went to DSW, where i scored these extremely comfortable new reebok real flex shoes!

i plan on using them for weight lifting and cross training. they are super light, springy, and fit like a glove! thanks mom!

remember when i said my family had an addiction to starbucks? well guess where we ended up after the shopping trip? i opted for a naked juice  this time, i needed some green goodness!

around 6:45, we said goodbye to my family and met john’s for dinner at china cafe. john and i had never eaten there before, but it was delicious! we enjoyed our meals in great company- john’s dad, his sister lindsay, sister jessica and her husband scott. (hi guys!)

i ordered the tofu and green beans in a thai curry sauce, it was excellent!

john and his sister lindsay both got the kung pao tofu, and really enjoyed it!

we had a blast, i wish i would have gotten a couple pics of everyone after dinner!

phew, that was quite the post! i’ll be back tomorrow with a corn bread recipe, from the babycakes cookbook! i made a double batch for both my dad and john’s dad, they are delicious and healthy!

how was your weekend? was it as food filled as mine!? 🙂
